Wendell Goodrum’s
Brief Testimony
I first went to Saint John’s Episcopal Church in
Sharon, Massachusetts where I went through confirmation. When I got to
high school my parents changed churches and I went to the Evangelical
Baptist Church of Sharon Massachusetts. While I was on a retreat with
the youth group, the guest speaker asked us to make a decision. Get off
of the fence and follow one God. I chose not to follow Jesus Christ. I
was wavering and that was the choice I made.
The following fifteen to eighteen years I spent drinking, smoking and
doing drugs. On April 15, 1998 I started to re-evaluate my life. But
that was after spending over $1,000.00 in one day on drugs and alcohol.
I was planning on using that money to move to New York so that I could
continue my acting career. Well, I was able to have just enough money
to get back home (Martha’s Vineyard at the time). But with my money
gone and my spirit broken on April 17th, God spoke to me. All I could
hear was, “this is not right.” I listened to Him. That night I stopped
drinking, doing drugs and quit smoking. With the strength of God, I did
not have any withdrawals and I was clean of my addictions. I
rededicated my life to Jesus Christ and made Him Lord and Savoir of my
life.
No one can tell me that you cannot change overnight. I am living proof
that someone can change with God’s help.
